Description/Purpose Statement Caring for today’s acutely ill or critically ill adult requires highly skilled, competent, and knowledgeable nurses. One way to demonstrate the level of expertise of a progressive care nurse or a critical care nurse is through certification. The CCRN® and the PCCN™ certification shows other health care professionals, employers, and patients that you are an expert progressive care nurse or critical care nurse. The purpose of this class is to help you review & identify areas where you may have learning needs and will help prepare you for the CCRN® or the PCCN™ examination through lecture, interaction, and practice test questions. Target Audience/Prerequisite All participants must be eligible to sit for the CCRN® or the PCCN™ examination. To be eligible, the participant must be an RN with a current license who has 1,750 hours in direct bedside care of the acutely ill or critically ill patient within the last 2 years, with 875 of those hours in the past year. The presentation of the content is fast, with key points and difficult concepts explained. Anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and other basics will not be covered in class.
