Changes in the types of cardiovascular surgery, and resulting changes in nursing management, have been coming fast and furious over the last five years. The purpose of this class is to help you to learn about the management of patients after cardiovascular surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center, the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, and Regions Hospital, including surgical techniques, routine management, pharmacology, and complications. Target Audience
This class was designed for nurses who have no familiarity with caring for the patient before and after cardiovascular surgery; however, all health care professionals are welcome to attend. It is strongly recommended that you have at least one year of ICU experience or have attended the “Foundations of Critical Care” series, including ECG Interpretation, Hemodynamic Monitoring, Shock and Infection, Elements of Critical Care Nursing, and Assessment before attending this class.

Food, beverages, and parking costs are your responsibility. Check the attached map for directions to the program location and for assistance with parking. If you are unable to attend after registering, please notify the Education Department at your hospital or call TCHP at 651-254-0885. In the case of bad weather, call the TCHP office at 651-254-0885 and check the answering message to see if a class has been cancelled. If a class has been cancelled, the message will be posted by 5:30 a.m. on the day of the program.
