The Survivor Series: The Healthcare Jungle
The Survivor Series: Ordinary people are dropped into some of the most unforgiving places on earth and must divide into teams to overcome challenges and compete to remain on the island. Does this sound familiar to you? Managers in today’s competitive healthcare environment frequently find themselves uncomfortably squeezed between satisfying their customers, keeping the “tribe” or team happy, and not getting “voted off the island” by overspending their budget. This entertaining and informative program will look at how to: · Navigate through the politics at your organization and compete for the budget dollars that keep your department afloat, · Look for ways to overcome obstacles to patient satisfaction, · Understand the medical legal process and how very simple things can really get you into trouble and, · Discover both positive and negative personal traits and look at how they influence success. Barracudas in the Bay: Don’t Get Voted Off the Island This part of the day takes a look at the competitive political environment in hospitals. All departments are competing for the same dollar and it is important to know how to keep your department afloat financially, without losing sight of our reason to be there: The patients. The end of this session will take a close look at obstacles to patient satisfaction and strategies to overcome them. Surviving the Tribal Council: This part of the program deals with the medical-legal process and how simple things can get you into trouble. A real perioperative case will be used to illustrate the process and enlighten about what it might be like to be under the bright lights of a courtroom. Survival Skills Hollywood-style: Part of surviving in the healthcare care environment is to use everything you’ve got to help your “tribe.” This section will take a look at both positive and negative traits that are seen in leaders and learn about how these traits affect the success of any leadership endeavor.
